DC

What does your favorite city sound like? Feel like? Every time I think of DC, it reminds me of sitting in a smokey blues lounge listening to jazz. Or when I listen to jazz, it brings me to DC. Always. I know a City can be a vibe, but I’ve only been to DC a handful of times, and it always reminds me of a 1930 jazz scene … in black and white. I haven’t been watching ‘Really Love’ like I was when it first came out but I do listen to the movie’s playlist. (I created the playlist on Spotify) The music cultivated in the movie, accurately depicts all the feels, while accurately portraying Washington DC.

What an incredible journey.

What, if any, Vibes does D.C. give you?

“Really Love”

Y’all know I HATE crying when watching television but here I am, wiping my tears. “Really Love” Still has me in my feelings, also it could be the white wine I had, but lets focus. Such a good movie! Very reminiscent of ‘Love Jones’ only in the sense that it romanticize DC. I love Black Folks, I love Blk Love, I love Love. Sidenote, Now I’m listening to Ari Lennox. Okay Okay back to the movie, must see. What annoyed me about the main characters, NO COMMUNICATION! Thats always the problem. Folks refuse to communicate with how they REALLY feel. Let it hurt my feelings, but at least I know exactly how you are feeling.

However go watch, then report back. Did you love it? Also, What do you think she decided to do?

DC baby.

I had the pleasure of overnighting in Washington D.C. last week. Although the sun was shining, it was cold as hell! Spring is having a moment, she can’t decide if she wants it to be closer to summer or winter.

Nobody told me the museum scene in DC was incredible. I’m always pleasantly surprised when I arrive in a city, find the closest museum and just explore it. The National Gallery is hands down an experience. Unfortunately because I had dinner plans I wasn’t able to spend as much time as I would’ve liked. I couldn’t obsess over Monet or Van Gogh but the best thing about the National Gallery is the cost; It’s Free!

Even if it wasn’t free, there’s so much to absorb, I would easily pay for such a selection. However I’m excited I (Or you) don’t have to.

WALE!

Even though I am a Baltimore Chick through and through,  I Love Wale!! I know I know, he’s from DC and this is a forbidden love, but I can’t help it. There’s something about him musically that I can not get enough of. It’s like he knows everything about me so he writes songs that speaks directly to me. There hasn’t been an album released by my boo Wale that I didn’t love and rock until I couldn’t listen anymore.

I’m currently obsessing over his latest release, SHINE. I believe this is his best work to date. However I always feel like he continuously pushes himself, with each album release. I love that he has incorporated more of the sounds from his country, although he does have more features this time around. I honestly couldn’t pick my top three but I forced myself to do so.

Top Three:  My Love, Fashion Week and My PYT … honorable mention CC White.

SideNote: Wale’s Summer on Sunset (Mixtape) is Fire. It’s unfortunate that I haven’t been able to put the album on my phone and Spotify is not up on game. If you get the chance to listen to the album, Please listen to Day by the pool, its ridiculously sick!
