Run the World

So, becuase I am not watching enough television series, I added the Starz series, “Run the World”, which is a series, according to Wikipedia, about a group of friends, navigating relationships and the professional World. Its set in Harlem, and yall know I’m a sucker for On location sets. Being a black woman, its always love to see women who look like you, living they best damn lives! Although my life looks a lil different than it did when I lived In Washington Heights, and would be out with my friends until the wee hours of the morning, its nice to be able to tune in and relive that feeling.

In every friend, I see parts of myself, and I’ve also have been in the situation(ships) displayed on the show. I throughly enjoyed episode one, Now time to binge the rest. We’ll chat.

day by day

Y’all know I have some of the greatest set of childhood best friends. The Best!

So of course we have a group chat, and although we don’t talk every single day, when we do chat, its the funniest thing in life! Today, Ash posted a link to IG, where there’s a skit of a ‘marching band’, just three members, the drum major, a flag girl and the cymbals. It wasn’t us, but it was. Theres no videos, and very few photos of us when we were younger, and it always makes me sad. It really is true, you never know the effect of a moment UNTIL its a memory.

So I implore you all, take as many photos as you can. I know it’s not easy to be in the moment, to be in the present, and try to capture what’s going on, but figure out a way.

Birthdays

Yall know, or should know how I feel about birthdays. Well today is my bestest best friend’s Jeff birthday. 36! Its crazy when you’ve been friends with someone for half of your life! Time flies, especially when you are having the time of your life!

Jeff, May this trip around the Sun be filled with an abundance of Love, Sunshine & Adventure! I sending all of the Everything to you, and I know this year will be the year of Leveling up … And Touching that Million Dollars. You’ll See.

Always, T.

Zoom Partyyy

Last Night, I hosted a quarantine Happy hour. I posted it on my social media outlets, and to be honest, I wasn’t really sure who, If anyone, was going to show up. Well… imagine my surprise when my childhood friends came thru for me. I’ll be the first to admit I was nervous, it such a hard thing to put yourself out there, not knowing what the outcome will be. I had such a great time, I am so glad I thought about doing this, I am even glader (I know, not a word) that they came to happy hour with me. Such a great time, of laughs, and being able to be together, although we couldn’t actually be together.

Also Shout out to my boo, for coming thru to a happy hour and not knowing who the hell would be there, or what the topics would be about. Thank you for taking a leap, and joining, you are truly appreciated. Forever!

Bumble Bees.

I can remember when online dating was such a taboo, when you had to lie about where and how you met the person because online dating was such a no no. I’ve been online dating and meeting folks for what seems like forever, definitely before it was on trend. At this point, I feel as if I’ve tested out every option, damn there every app. Currently I was testing out the app Bumble, and this was after vowing to not attempt to date from online. I do appreciate the two other bumble options which are Bumble BFF and Bumble Biz, as I’ve ‘meet’ some interesting people. The catch with Bumble, it’s the female who initiates the interaction after both parties have swiped right on each other signifying they are interested. My only grip with that, is I’ve found that men are not interested enough in me to hold a conversation, after they’ve ‘connected’ with me. Personally, I do like when a man approaches me, cuz then I knew he is somewhat interested.

However I think I am going to delete Bumble, or possibly just keep it and use it as a tool to meet new BFF’s. Either way, dating isn’t for me anymore.

Win=Win

I celebrate my friends wins as my own. A win for them, is most definitely a win for me.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been the sappy one. I’m the one that do the cards, balloons and candy for those milestone moments, and sometimes I just celebrate you. It’s my job as a friend to do everything in my power to make you feel as if you are the most valued VIP on my team. I do not take my responsibility as a friend lightly, although I have been known to casually throw around the word friend.

I have a friend that has recently graduated into becoming a flight attendant for Delta Air lines. It is said, that its harder to be a Flight Attendant for Delta Air Lines than it is to get into Harvard. I knew it was going to be a process to get her from the beginning to the end of her goal, but I was there, to provide her with encouragement and well wishes. To have a friend, you have to be a friend! So when she officially graduated, that wasn’t just a win for her, it was one for me too. It’s not always easy to find folks that you mesh with BUT when you do, My God! It’s a beautiful thing to have a tribe in which they empower you to do and be the best you can.

If you have a tribe, how do you find all of its members? And if you do not, what can I do to help? … And yes, I’m serious.
