Have you watched the movie “I feel Pretty” with Amy Schumer?

Well, you need to! Such a good film! Such a feel good, hilarious film about self confidence, at its core. To have all the confidence in the World, it only took for the main character to have a severe head injury! If only women could feel that way, without having to receive a concussion first! If I’m giving away spoilers, I apologize but the movie has been out for forever. I enjoyed, it also highlights men feeling the exact same way as women, although in actual society, its not as discussed. I kept thinking it would be more “Devil wears Prada” but I was pleasantly surprised.

Made in Lagos

So … I’m listening to WizKid’s Made in Lagos on Recommendation from a Hinge Profile. Homie said its the best album of 2020, so I figured I’d take a listen. Well Idk If I’d call it the BEST Album but its damn good! Especially the Songs Roma, and Smile. Can I just say, I LOVE when British Rappers rap, so yup Skepta, is one of my favorites, actually the song Longtime is a favorite too. Made in Lagos is a chill album, Whether in the morning with a cup of tea, or at night, with a glass of wine, getting ready to go out, this album is all about feel good music. I could imagine how it would hit, hopefully in 2021/2022, we’ll be able to experience it! Have you guys heard this album?

Although we ALL know this, People will try to push their experiences onto you. Do Not Let Them! What they’ve experienced will not be your experience. You are your own Unique Self. You bring a different energy, a totally different vibe, and if that doesn’t separate you, You separate you. You have the vision you have. Maybe they can’t see thru ‘it’ to the end. Whatever you are attempting, whatever you are living thru, please Understand, you have a certain level of finesse, a certain magical, that ONLY you have.

Warrior

Since I’ve finished watching ‘Alice in Borderland’ I’m still on par with watching Asian series, so that brings us to ‘Warrior’. Now that I’m writing, it definitely reminds me of ‘Into the Badlands’ but I think only because of the fighting. It does remind me a bit of GOT, with all the moving parts, and characters.

‘Warrior’ follows a Prodigy, in his quest to navigate being an ‘onion’ in 1800’s America. Which was not a kind place for ANYONE who wasn’t white. I’m taking the series slow, but I’m on the fifth episode and Chile, Ah Sahm, the prodigy, has made some (head shaking) poor decisions, and it doesn’t seem like he is willing to make any better of decisions. Its a slow build storyline wise, however, as you put the pieces together, the fighting keeps you drawn in. So far, Lee is my fav character, but he definitely running from something … or someone.

Warrior is shown on HBOMax. I’ll take a few days to allow you to catch up, so I won’t be spilling any tea.

Post Valentine

I set the standard! If I am not consistent with myself, how can I expect someone else to be consistent with me? If I do not take care of myself, how can I expect someone else to take care of me? Plus I think its just good practice to love on yourself, spoil yourself, be good to yourself, prior to believing it is the job of someone else.

There are some holidays I love more than others but I try to celebrate the ones that resonate with me. Also, this year I told myself I was going to be CONSISTENT with how I show myself love. So for Valentine’s Day, I took myself on a solo date to the Art Museum of Chicago, then I came home and cooked a fabulous dinner, of Lobster Tails, Semi Mashed potatoes topped with a garlic butter sauce, and seasoned green beans. I did have someone say, “Lobster tails … and wine?” Yes! All of that, and I had dessert too! Am I supposed to sulk at home, while eating a TV dinner because I didn’t have a male Valentine? Nah, I’m too fabulous to ever sulk!

Y’all know I have some of the greatest set of childhood best friends. The Best!

So of course we have a group chat, and although we don’t talk every single day, when we do chat, its the funniest thing in life! Today, Ash posted a link to IG, where there’s a skit of a ‘marching band’, just three members, the drum major, a flag girl and the cymbals. It wasn’t us, but it was. Theres no videos, and very few photos of us when we were younger, and it always makes me sad. It really is true, you never know the effect of a moment UNTIL its a memory.

So I implore you all, take as many photos as you can. I know it’s not easy to be in the moment, to be in the present, and try to capture what’s going on, but figure out a way.

Impossible.

Today is the premiere of Cinderella featuring Brandy and (The Late) Whitney Houston, and I couldn’t be more excited! “Impossible”! It will be premiering on Disney+, unfortunately I do not believe the accompanying soundtrack will not be rereleased as well. I just checked to see If/where its available … technically there was NEVER a soundtrack with the version of songs featuring Brandy & Whitney Houston. So As of right now, the only place you can hear any of the songs … impossible … is on Youtube. And while I am grateful, there is somewhere to listen, I’m needing it to be on Spotify!

I know I have these moments of extensive quiet, where I don’t chat with guys, then boom, I’ll be back. Well this is one of those moments, where I am back … for now.

Hmm Whats new? What have y’all been up to? Since the last time we’ve spoken, Ive gotten older.. My birthday has come and gone, 35 baby! Leading up to my personal holiday, I wasn’t exactly excited but I had a good experience. We’ll chat about it later on tho. I’ve been making some changes, personal, and I’m feeling good about them.

Oh! And I’ve been watching shows, so be ready to read a couple of reviews. Listen, I have some great great recommendations for a few Netflix and HBO shows! Ohhhhh weeeee, its currently 3:49a, and I am yawning, so I don’t know how long I am going to last. Can we pick this conversation up tomorrow?

Bridgerton E1-5

It’s only fitting that my first post for 2021 be all about the Netflix Series Bridgerton. The scandal, the Romance, the miscommunication, the non communication! I had so much frustration watching this series, all I wanted to do was scream at EVERY character to simply talk to one another. I refuse to spoil anything but whew, however I was so giddy with E5, that I might’ve cried a bit.

To have society deem and decide what is to be of you … of yourself, your life. How a decision, or the appearance of such could mark you, what fucking pressures! AND To be a man, what a privilege.

Also, it’s based on books. I know, we’re in heaven baby.

Cheers Again to 2021, May this year be filled with Everything Good.

But I had a ‘shower thought’ minus the shower. I’m on the couch, about to lay down for the evening, nevermind it’s 605est, and it just hit me. As SOON as you decide, truly decide, what you want, how you want, and what you aren’t going to allow, The Universe first test you, then Make it All Happen. In this moment, I feel the Universe conspiring to make the wants happen.

I’ve been concerned about my future for the past few weeks, but in just a moment, my concerns are no more. No matter what happens, I will be more than alright.

I have accepted my writing fate at this time, because all I want to do is watch ‘television’ and write up my opinion, and then beg y’all to watch (indulge) with me. I KNOW sitting in front of a screen, and watching hours of television isn’t the smartest choice, but we’re ALL making poor decisions. Judge Yourself! (laughing)

Also, I’m single, so you would think I would stay from romantic comedies, and dramas, but Nope! That’s all I can watch. I’m actually getting the feels from being so wrapped up in the characters! I blame the holidays, who knows what my excuse will be after they’re over.
