Does your version of #Selfcare include self pleasure?

Because I am so used to putting everyone before my own needs, I just started attempting to carve out time for self care. As much I hate staying home on my days off, this past Monday I did just that. I stayed in bed, drank tea, caught up on my television shows, and pleasured myself. I was debating on if I should be that open with you guys but why not? Self Pleasure and Self Care should go hand in hand, whether its at the beginning of the day or the end. I learned my body early on, so I know what doesn’t work for me, and I know what does. Although I am single, I do not feel the need to run into the arms of a man, to fulfill my sexual needs, so I went out and purchased a device, that I named Tom. Funny story, as opened as I am with sex, and sexual gratification I was so shy to purchase a toy in store, so I chickened out and utilized amazon. (Laugh)

My version of #SelfCare doesn’t always include self pleasure, most times my “Me” Time is just me relaxing with my thoughts. However I don’t rule it out if I body needs a release. From dildos to Vibrators the choices are endless, just set the mood, and Enjoy!

L.A Blues.

In 2009, I went on a vacation to Los Angeles, with a coworker and her two friends. I fell in love with the city, the people and the vibe of the city. Six Months after that vacation, I moved to Los Angeles full time. Although I didn’t stay in the city long, LA will always mean so much to me. The memories I created from the time I visit, to the time I moved there will always make me feel warm and fuzzy.

Recently I went back to LA, and my four hours visiting there did not disappoint. I started off my visit going straight to my absolute favorite, place in California, which is Santa Monica Pier. After the midday flight, without grabbing something to eat, I found the nearest food truck, and OMGEEEE! Upon first bite, I wanted to cry tears of hunger/joy. I thought I was solely ordering a chicken quesadilla but I received ‘crack’ rice and refried beans topped with parmesan cheese. A meal to die for, I ended up eating my meal and chatting with a seagull.

Next up, Santa Monica Beach and the Pier. There’s always something about being near water, that makes me feel invincible but calms every stressed muscle I have. I probably would’ve stayed longer at the Pier but the Seagulls are so aggressive, I was scared one was going to yoke me up and throw me off the pier.

Its something about being on the other side of the country, cuz I had an amazing glow from the California sun. I am always blessed to be able to jump on a plane and go wherever the wind feels like taking me.

Fright Festival

So this year I was fortunate to have a friend care about me enough to invite me to fright fest at Six Flags Great Adventures in Jackson, New Jersey. As you all know, I am not a fan of group activities, so my first thought was to say no thank you, however I surprised myself by confirming that I would be in attendance. We were scheduled to go the night before Halloween, but it was forecast to rain all day, so I was playing it by ear. It did rain, the morning of but luckily, all the clouds cleared out by mid afternoon, with the park opening at 5pm, there was enough time for the rides to be dry. There was a total of eleven people in the group, did I mention they were coworkers? Well yes, it was, so I broke two of my rules in one night.

Disclaimer, I am not a fan of scary ish. I have been known to scare easy, so lord only knows why I agreed to go. There was a few times, I was so scared I could pee my pants. The problem, the zombies, creepers and clowns are only in certain parts of the park, so you actually do forget they are there. Until one is scaring the shit out of you, then its too late. There’s the fog that comes out, which makes it ten times worst than what it really is.

Although the park was semi packed, we did not have to wait in line for a ride, until our last ride which was the Superman. And I rode the Kingda Ka twice. Did I mention how cold it was? Geez! So Imagine being in a rollercoaster flying through the air, with your stomach dropping at every turn… fun! I know! Six Flags is fun no matter the time of year, but make sure you pencil in Fright Fest for your next adventure.

Back Home (Issa Review)

I keep telling myself I am not a Rap fan, that I am strictly an R&B girl but I find myself tuning into Rap Music far more than R&B nowadays. Well with that said, let the review begin.

A catchy hook will always draw me in but Im always praying that the song, whether its the beat or the lyrics will keep me there. For artist, Pretty Boy Lou, he along with his production team, has managed to create music thats a elegant blend of rap and hip hop. On song Seven Figures, his voice comes across raw, as if he is a hungry ass artist, looking for his shine and this is his last chance. The song features Dru Gunnz whose own voice, is deeper but lighter, which affectionately reminds me of a unique Nas/MethodMan blend.

On Back Home, Pretty Boy Lou features his mom, which is a sweet gesture, that anyone can appreciate. And although I do appreciate the gesture, I do believe that this could’ve been his opportunity to possibly collaborate with a bevy of unknown artists that may have rounded out the album better. The album is a refreshing sound, with not only amazing vocals, provided by Pretty Boy Lou, but the music itself is a breath of fresh air. I am excited to see where Pretty Boy Lou will take his music, however I do see longevity.

Gucci Gucci

So I am NOT a Gucci Mane fan, I’m not sure If I’ve ever really purposely listened to any of his music. However I had been hearing so many good things about his newest album, Mr.Davis that I just had to take a listen. The album has a good flow to it, although I didn’t listen to the track listing in order, it still flows very well. I appreciate that Gucci Mane is not yelling, over EVERY SINGLE TRACK. I do believe he came before the mumble rappers, but he does rap non traditionally slow, giving me the vibe of Mase back in his heyday.

I didn’t really have any expectations for Mr. Davis, but I must admit, I have been jamming to it since I downloaded it this morning. I do believe this album has something for everyone to jam to. I’m most certain that his hardcore fan base, can celebrate this album, and a newbie such as myself, can rock it.

SideNote I: Does the song Back On sample Crime Mob’s Knuck If you Buck?

Of Course, I have to give my favorite songs, Tone it Down, Ride and Members Only. Although I feel as if I shouldn’t like this song, I rock out to Enormous. OD!

Music Hall Radio City

So I had the pleasure of seeing Miss Solange perform in person at Radio City Music Hall here in NYC and she was as marvelous as you would picture her to be. I do have to admit, she came on towards the latter part of the evening, I was getting worried that she would only be on for thirty minutes, but she was on stage for about an hour. Dancing, Singing, and Taking command of my emotions! As you would expect she performed songs from her current album, Seat at the Table, but she threw in T.O.N.Y, which I sung and felt every word, she added two songs from True. I’ve been rocking with Solange for a long time, so although I loved her slowed down version of T.O.N.Y, I would’ve loved to hear more songs from her album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. OMG! So many classic bangers!
Solange definitely seems like someone I would be friends with. A No hold bars chick who speaks exactly what she’s thinking. How can you not appreciate that?!

SideNote: Not that race is a factor but it is, however, there was more white folks than blk people at her show. And maybe they like her music as much as I do, but I kinda would’ve like to see more brown folks who KNEW her music as intimately as I do.

Drinks Galore.

I can always count on Cafeteria Restaurant to not only provide an amazing (finger licking good) meal, but to create an atmosphere that promotes positivity and community. It also doesn’t hurt that their drinks are always so good and buzz worthy. Since I was in the Union Square area recently, starving, and I knew it was the perfect place to stop for a bite. I’ve been frequenting Cafeteria, what seems like forever. At one point, that was my date night hangout, I would bring all my dates there. What can I say, its a good date night spot.

Window Shoppin.

My Coworker bestie sent this to me yesterday to describe who I am and surprisingly she is spot on! I promise you guys, I be having financial goals, but I see a sale and its a wrap. Lately I’ve been window shopping, I haven’t purchased a thing but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to buy up the whole collection. For the past two months I was just purchasing shit left and right, I can’t even remember the last time I checked my bank account. I was like I KNOW I have money in the bank so why not just spend it … ALL.

Thankfully, I did not hit rock bottom but I know if I would have continued with those horrible habits I would have. As much ‘fun’ as it is to just spend all my damn money, once the realization hits, and reality starts to set in, it wasn’t as fun as I thought.

Fly Awake

The Best Seat Will forever be the window seat. I feel weightless every single time an aircraft takes off, appreciating where I’ve been and having gratitude for where I will travel to makes living life worth it. I can’t imagine who I’d be without the opportunity to visit certain countries/communities. Every time I experience a new place, a new part of myself is unlocked.

If you don’t realize, I hold travel in high regard. You’ll never reach your highest level of enlightenment without travel. No excuses, Make it happen!

Lets Eat.

Do you have a certain meal, or food, you ALWAYS order when you go out?

Well I do, and its always seafood, specifically salmon. I want to believe I am adventurous when it comes to meals and what I am willing to try. However I can admit, Salmon is just that ‘thing’ my eye always look for when out. One of my favorite restaurants in New York is Clyde Frazier’s Wine & Dine. Not only is it a semi upscale sport bar, but there is a half basketball court, where you can perfect your jump shot. The food is absolutely divine! My go to meal is the blackened Scottish salmon with bourbon butter spinach and garlic mashed potatoes, with a glass of white wine. The salmon is so delish, that it melts in your mouth! I usually can’t squeeze in dessert but when YOU go please make room for the ricotta donuts!

For me, this is the perfect date night spot, whether its a first date or you’re a couple that’s looking to try a new place. If you are single, fret not for the bar area, is incredible! AND Clyde Frazier’s has a nice line up for happy hour. Hopefully I will catch you there one of these days, don’t ever be too shy to say hey!

Beauty Related.

Any Shade of purple is my go to. No, All shades of purple are my go to. There’s just something about purple that makes it a color that stands out on brown skin. Marvelous! Reward Reward

With so few that truly defines what it means to be a friend, should we reward those who get it right? Now hear me out, I don’t think I should “pay” you to be my friend but if I’m out and about is it acceptable to purchase something for my friend? Personally my friendship in return is the reward for you completing your duties as “friend”. While I think gifts should be reserved for birthdays and holidays, you should always show your appreciation for a good friend. But don’t be confused with good friend behavior. ITS NOT THE SAME!

Anyone can be a good friend, once. It’s the consistency that creates a balanced friendship. I shouldn’t wonder if your going to be there when it’s needed. Loyalty shouldn’t be questioned. And if I find myself questioning your loyalty then what use are you as a friend?
